GalaxyArt Newsletter October 2021
Arts & culture have unlimited potential to deliver meaningful experiences.
November workshops are now open for registration! The popular workshop “History Re-told”, open to children and their parents, are now open again for registration! As an extended programme of “JUXTAPOSE”, this workshop is suitable for children ages 5-12, to be held on weekends in November.
During the workshop, docents will lead children from the starting point, the border gate (or the exhibit “Candy”) on their “journey” through Macao! With storytelling and interactive games, participants will be introduced to the 11 exhibits on display from the artistic and historical perspectives. After the tour, a hands-on “wire sculpture” DIY craft workshop will be conducted, and you will even be able to take home as your souvenir the handicraft you made!
Workshop enrolments are limited and are available on a first-come-first-served basis. To register and learn more, please click the following link:

Kids’ Corner Student: Teacher, why is it that even though we are looking at a black-and-white drawing, that somehow we can tell the darker and lighter areas seemingly so prominently, and the drawing looks so real?
Teacher: It is because the artist makes good use of line drawing techniques. He uses lines drawn densely together to represent darker areas while using more scattered lines to show the brighter areas in the drawing. Furthermore, curve lines are used to give shapes to objects drawn and he creates shadows by drawing intersecting straight lines. These techniques help to compose structures and depth in the drawing.
Student: I got it! Thank you for explaining these techniques so I can apply them when I draw. Practice makes perfect, let us give it a try!
