THE ART OF BAMBOO
|
GalaxyArt’s second exhibition, THE ART OF BAMBOO, featuring the age-old bamboo crafts and how it evolves into the contemporary art scene, showcased the important element of Chinese culture and intangible heritage. The exhibition closed on 15th May.
THE ART OF BAMBOO greeted visitors from Macau and abroad alike, and hosted docent-led tours not only for the general public, but also non-governmental organizations and schools, ranging from primary and secondary to tertiary institutions. Parent-child weekend workshops were also conducted targeting children aged 6-12, to give them all a hand-on experience of traditional bamboo crafting.

What is Art in your mind?

What is Art? When is a painting or a sculpture considered art or, rather, when not?
For art, “There are a Thousand Hamlets in a Thousand People’s Eyes”, as a well-known Asian proverb says. Thus, debates over what is deemed “art” are inevitable during discussions about any work of art. Fountain, created by Marcel Duchamp, is recognized as one of the most influential, but controversial artwork of the 20th century. There are no doubt different views on this matter; there are those who consider it vulgar and obscene, and can therefore not consider the work an artwork. However, those who appreciate the work believes it is an idiosyncratic artwork that alters the way the game of art is played.
What do you think?
