GalaxyArt Grand Opening! The Galaxy Entertainment Group Foundation, or GEG Foundation, unveiled its dedicated art space, GalaxyArt, on 20 July 2021. GalaxyArt is a non-profit gallery that will be hosting ongoing arts and cultural exhibitions throughout the year, enabling it to become one of the key platforms to support the GEG Arts & Culture Initiative. Exhibitions will be curated for both locals and tourists alike, but with a particular focus on young people to expose them to and broaden their horizon in the arts.
Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 As a large-scale international cultural and artistic event in Macao, “Art Macao” has brought an immersive cultural atmosphere to the entire city as a gallery and an art garden. A brand-new urban cultural tourism brand is taking shape, prepared to generate a huge mass fervour for contemporary art in Macao. “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021” will take place from July to October, 2021. Government departments, enterprises together with artists from all over the world will bring diverse visual arts experiences under the theme “To Create for Well-being”.
JUXTAPOSE: Stories in Steel A Special Exhibition of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021” 2021.7.20 - 2021.10.31 Juxtapose is a homage to the rich history of Macao, with over four centuries of heritage, and is set to arouse collective memory and emotions, with “Stories of Steel” being narrated through larger-than-life steel rod sculptures exhibited in “Juxtapose”…
Recap of Themed Children’s Story and Handicraft Workshop, the extended Programme of “Juxtapose” With the aim to engage our young people’s interests and appreciation in Macao’s history and its cultural heritage, GalaxyArt conducted 2 themed workshops the first weekend after Juxtapose opened. During the workshops , 30 sets of parents and their children were treated to a docent-led tour of “Juxtapose”, followed by a storytelling session conducted by a representative of the Oral History Association of Macao. Afterwards, children participated in a handicraft workshop creating their own artwork using pipe cleaners, which they were able to bring home as souvenirs as part of their weekend spent with mom and dad!
