Arts & culture have unlimited potential to deliver meaningful experiences
- Review - Parent-Child Workshop: “Night Lamp DIY” During March, GalaxyArt held a series of parent-child workshops for children ages 6 to 12. Participants joined a guided tour to have a better understanding of the exhibition as well as the intangible cultural heritage of bamboo crafting. They also had hands-on experience in the “Night Lamp DIY” workshops using simple materials, such as bamboo strips and flower petal paper. The workshops helped to promote bamboo crafts to the younger generation, and to enhance parent-child relationship.
Local communities visited GalaxyArt GalaxyArt hosted docent-guided tours for The Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired and Macau Down Syndrome Association in March. Welcoming visitors with special needs through culture and arts, as well as promoting the spirit of care and inclusion in the community, our docents offered these special tours and shared with them the intricate bamboo crafts. Furthermore, docents practised simple sign language to ensure our hearing impaired visitors feel welcomed. Participants enjoyed their visit and hope there will be further opportunities to visit GalaxyArt again.
Kids' Corner 【Northern Lion and Southern Lion】 Harry: Mum, are both of these lions? Why do they look different?
Mum: Harry, they are both lions used in lion dance performances. However, because of the cultural differences between the northern and the southern regions of China, there are two types of lion dances featuring the Northern and Southern Lions.
What are the differences between the lions from Northern and Southern China?
Mum: They are different in their appearances. The Northern Lion tends to resemble a real lion, especially its colouration. The Southern Lion is more colourful and is generally of a larger size.
Harry: If there is a chance, I would like to see lion dances from the two different regions!
